Sources of Urban Educational Excellence 4th Annual Conference

On Saturday, April 25, 2009, I really enjoyed the conference. The keynote speaker was Dr. Joyce King. We were able to listen to the year 2 members of the program. They presented their PSP projects from their own classrooms. From listening to them, we found out that we were not the only cohort who had problems on agreeing with a topic. I also heard some helpful advice that will help me in my classroom next year.
That afternoon, there was a forum held in the conference room. At the forum, we were allow to ask the panel of about 15 high school students questions dealing with their educations. I really enjoyed hearing what these students had to say. Their statements were very helpful. They gave statements like teachers should listen to what the students have to say, show that they care, included the students in planning, and show respect. I really enjoyed it. I felt great leaving the conference.
